HelpMe UK — Summary & Impact Statement

A multilingual support app helping people understand, access and navigate everyday life in the UK with confidence.

At a glance

HelpMe UK was built from lived experience and from years of seeing people in my community struggle to understand important letters, forms and public services.

Before building the app, people often came to me asking for help. They would bring Home Office letters, council letters, NHS letters, housing forms and other official documents, asking: "What does this mean?" and "What should I do next?"

One moment stayed with me. While volunteering in a law office, an older man came to me with a long Home Office letter and said, "Son, can you read this for me and tell me what it means?" When I read it, I realised the letter said his citizenship had been put on hold or was at risk because he had not responded to the Home Office in time and the deadline had already passed.

That moment showed me how serious this problem is. A person can lose an opportunity, miss a deadline or face life-changing consequences simply because they could not understand a letter.

HelpMe UK was created to stop people being left alone with important information they do not understand.

The aim is simple: to make support easier to understand, easier to access and available in people's own language.

Built From Lived Experience

Not just translation. Meaning.

Google has had 20 years and 130 languages. They still left 30 million Kurdish speakers behind. We did not.

Unlike any other translation tool, HelpMe UK does not just convert words. It translates meaning. Every feature has been designed around real-life experiences and real community needs.
